Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center sits on the Fubao Peninsula near the Dianchi Lake. It is a major urban and hill public-development project for interna- tional conferences and exhibitions, tourism services, business, culture and entertain- ment. The centre has a surface area of 5.4 million m2, making it the third-largest in China and the largest in southwest China. The first part of the exhibition venue and its comple- mentary buildings have a surface area of about 1.17 million m2, comprising 23 indoor exhibition halls with 300,000 and 100,000 m2 indoor and outdoor exhibition areas and 100,000 m2 facilities such as conference, banquet and business-talks rooms and 8,000 underground parking lots.
The center is easily accessible by expressways and national highways, including the Kunming-Shilin, Kunming-Yuxi, Kunming-Guiyang and Kunming-Daluo expressways or highways. Kunming is a transport hub that connects west, east and south Yunnan and the rest of China and neighbouring countries. Its extensive networks of rail, aviation and water transport are indispensable to goods import and export.
