China International Travel Mart 2012

     The CITM 2012 has been held in Shanghai New International Expo Centre on November 15 to 18, 2012, Shanghai. The exhibition area of the CITM 2012 reached 57,500 sq m; the exhibition booths totaled 2,514; and 104 countries and regions in the world participated in the travel mart. The Chinese exhibition booths numbered 1,582, and the number of the international and overseas exhibition booths increased by a large margin, reaching 932. Over 1,200 invited buyers and buyers at their own expenses from about 40 countries and regions, such as Russia, the United States and the European countries, attended various negotiation activities. The industry categories of the exhibitors continued to develop towards diversification, and the industry coverage further expanded. The exhibitors came from the government tourism agencies, travel services, hotels, tourism and scenic spots, airlines, pleasure ships, tourism websites and booking systems. Shanghai Municipality, the host, organized a large exhibition delegation to participate in the travel mart and set up 80 exhibition booths, which covered an area of 720 sq m, ranking first in the scale and the number of exhibition booths of all the provinces, autonomous regions and centrally administered municipalities in China.

       The domestic and foreign tourism-related sectors attached great importance to the CITM 2012. The leaders of the China National Tourism Administration and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government attended the relevant activities during the CITM 2012. Over 50 VIPs from 20 countries, regions and international organizations participated in the relevant activities, such as Russia, North Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Czech, Macedonia, Cameroon, Mexico, Bahamas, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, the Cook Islands, the Pacific Asia Travel Association, the South Pacific Tourism Organization, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The annual China International Travel Mart has become an important platform for domestic and foreign tourism departments and tourism circles to conduct exchanges and cooperation.
